This intrepid baker has found the perfect amount of frosting to put on a cupcake. It doesn’t quite cover the top of the perfect little cake, it has tiny crunchy hearts on top, it looks buttery and creamy and rich; this could be the perfect cupcake! Just looking at it, I can tell it isn’t too super sweet. I approve, I want. Bring to me.
Oh you guys, these little bride and groom cupcakes are so in LURVE! Look how bashful and adorable they are — they totally complement each other! So creamy and chocolatey and with a little crunch, who could tear down such a pair? It’s like they were made for each other!

My 6th grade science fair project was all about optical illusions and I only got a participation ribbon. But I was the talk of the fair with my gigantic “portable” computer that weighed about 35 pounds and had a big handle on it. I needed impressive technology to make an impact, but if I’d had these amazing retro graphic science cupcakes I probably would have won. Harumph. Once again my lack of baking talent holds me back.

Awww, look! One of his flippers is littler than the other. What a trooper! This looks like a super-fun party theme. You could have a sort of Whack-A-Mole game but with the “Mine!” seagulls and a twisty slide just like the turtles. You could also have a little meeting to discuss how fish are friends, not food.

In my brain, these have cream cheese frosting and now that’s all I can smell. And the cupcakes themselves, are they plain old vanilla or are they something crazy like lemon verbena? Love is so delicious.

I tend to be a completest about certain things. Like when I like a band, I have to buy every album; if I like an author I need to get all their books etc. I’m afraid that if faced with this sweet li’l Nessie cupcake tableau I would have to eat all of them. You know, for the complete set. Is that weird? I guess I’m just glad I’ve never actually been faced with this predicament.

Ooh Chinese food! I am a great lover of authentic, fishy, fermented beany, salty Chinese from the International District, I really am, but there is a large soft spot deep in my heart for cheap, steam table, by the pound chow mein from grocery stores. I used to live above a Safeway and spent many Saturday mornings padding my way downstairs in my zebra striped bedroom slippers for a box of greasy chicken chow mein to cure the horrors of the night before. If they had also offered cupcakes like this, I would have had no choice but to indulge. What’s your favorite hangover cure and/or sweet that looks savory?

This reminds me of the basement of my great aunt Marty’s house where she had shag carpeting, lots of wood furniture, fabric covered walls, olive glass chain lamps, macrame plant hangers and owl hook rugs on the wall. The olive/rust/harvest gold color theme is so hip again, I think I need to get a tooled leather belt with my name on it.

I’m not one of those girls who is all about Alice in Wonderland in all its iterations. I don’t wear a fuzzy Cheshire cat backpack from Hot Topic like a 14 year old, I was not at all excited about the shark-jumpy Tim Burton movie that just came out. However! I love the books and the whole story and these cupcakes! The colors are amazing, the placement of the little hearts, the 3-D flowers, it’s glorious!
